You can check the maturity of the mango by sticking a needle into the mango’s tail, if the needle does not pass, the mango seeds are hard, the fruit is old enough, and can be picked.

– It is best to harvest mangoes from 9 am to 3 pm, because this is when the mango has the least latex.

– Picking mangoes by hand or by cage, when picking, leave the stalk about 2 – 5 cm for less pus discharge. Pick the fruit one by one.

– Spread the mango on a layer of newspaper or dry leaves to drain the latex. Then place the mangoes in a basket lined with soft paper or dry leaves around and at the bottom of the basket.

– When placing the mango in the basket, you should wear gloves or use two fingers to gently hold the left, to avoid losing the chalk on the left.

– Avoid letting the left stalk hit other fruits.

– The mango basket should be placed in a shady place, avoiding direct sunlight on the mango.

2. Cut:

– Prune off all the leaves on the stem to limit water loss and keep the mango longer

– Remove all damaged, rotten fruits.
